On Saturday, July 25, 18 foreign participants from five countries and regions joined 11 NIMIC staff members and volunteers at a Bon Odori (traditional Japanese summer dance festival).
The festival was held in the parking lot of DyDo DRINCO ICE ARENA in Higashifushimi. This year, participants joined in their everyday clothes rather than wearing yukata.
For many of the foreign participants, it was their first time experiencing Bon Odori, festival food stalls, and fireworks. Everyone seemed to enjoy this traditional Japanese summer festival very much.
Although it rained for a while during the event, everyone stayed until the end and enjoyed the fireworks together.
It was a wonderful opportunity to experience Japanese summer culture and spend an enjoyable evening together.
