Free multilingual consultations– On consignment –

  • People residing, working, or studying in Nishitokyo City can seek assistance in everyday life, receive information, and be introduced to resources supporting foreign residents.  
  • Consultations are open to both foreigners and Japanese nationals, free of charge, and confidentiality is assured. 
  • This operation is managed by NIMIC under consignment from the Nishitokyo City government. 

Examples of consultation topics

  • Help with understanding school notices 
  • Guidance on enrolling children who have recently arrived in Japan into schools 
  • Learning Japanese 
  • Assistance with various administrative procedures 
  • Volunteering for international exchange or multicultural activities 
  • Joining interpreter or translator volunteer programs 
  • Assisting nearby foreigners in need 

Supported languages

Consultations are available in easy Japanese and easy English every weekday. 

 Interpreters are in attendance on the following days and times.

ChineseWednesdays and Fridays, 13:00–15:00 
KoreanThursdays, 10:00–12:00, 13:00–16:00
(and one Wednesday per month, 13:00–15:00)
SpanishTuesdays, 10:00–12:00, 13:00–16:00

Consultations are available by means of interpretation using a tablet. 

Consultations are possible through a three-party interpretation service using a tablet terminal (videophone). (18 languages:) English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Nepali, Hindi, Vietnamese, French, Russian, Indonesian, Khmer, Burmese, Malay, Ukrainian, and easy Japanese
