What is this activity?
We provide integrated support in the community for children whose native language is not Japanese and their parents who live or attend school in Nishitokyo City so that they can live fulfilling lives while connecting with many people.
Multicultural Kids Coordinators have been appointed to assist children in their study of the Japanese language and other subjects, provide consultations with them about their problems and difficulties, and help them to interact with people in the community and others in the same situation.
The Japanese Language Class for Kids, which is available at four elementary and junior high schools in the city, provides support for learning Japanese language necessary for school and daily life.
Past activities
The NIMIC Japanese Language Class for Kids was launched in 2007 as a collaborative initiative by the Teachers Management and Instruction Section, Cultural Promotion Section, and NIMIC.
In 2024 it was reborn as the Multicultural Kids Salon, a Nishitokyo City project. NIMIC continues to operate this program.
